From the beginning, it was clear that Amerique’s story carried immense emotional weight. She spoke openly about the trauma she had faced growing up—emotional, physical, and sexual—and how, through Entre Hermanos, she finally began to feel seen, supported, and whole. To honor the depth of her story, we approached this project with deep intentionality. We began with a pre-interview, giving space for trust and boundaries to be established. Filming took place at her home and around the city, capturing moments of reflection, movement, and quiet transformation.
The tone of production was calm and respectful, shaped entirely around Amerique’s comfort and pace. Our priority was to hold her story with care, allowing her to lead the emotional rhythm of the piece.
The finished film premiered at Entre Hermanos’ annual gala as the emotional centerpiece of the evening. It grounded the night in honesty and heart, helping attendees connect more deeply with the urgency of the work and the lived experiences behind it.
For Entre Hermanos, the video marked a meaningful chapter. It provided space to elevate an individual story while reinforcing the broader impact of their programs. And for Amerique, it was an act of courage and visibility—one that resonated powerfully with the community.
